Christian Marriage

Overview

A Christian Marriage is solemnized by a licensed minister or priest in a church or by a Marriage Registrar. Governed by the Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872, it ensures the marriage is valid both religiously and legally.

Eligibility Criteria

Both partners must be Christians by faith.
Groom must be 21 years or older, Bride 18 years or older.
Both must give free consent.
Neither partner should have a living spouse.

Baptism / Confirmation certificate
Aadhar Card / Passport
Birth certificate / School certificate (age proof)
Residence proof
Passport-size photos (6 each)
Notice of intended marriage
Witnesses’ ID proofs

Marriage Registration Process

Notice of Intended Marriage submitted to church / registrar.
Publication of Notice in parish records.
Marriage Ceremony conducted by priest or registrar.
Entry in Church Register signed by both partners and witnesses.
Certificate Issued by registrar / church authority.
